On July 20th, 2022 at 4:00 PM (EST), our ninth speaker event of the year will feature Dr. Jeremy Schwark from Google. The UW HFES Student Chapter welcomes Dr. Schwark to give a talk about his career journey, including the transition from graduate school to industry, considerations for different career paths, and suggestions for how students can best prepare for the job market. He will also walk through a typical day as an HFE at Google, including required skills and strategies for developing skills that translate across domains. After his talk, we will have a Q&A period with Dr. Schwark. Speaker Bio:

Jeremy Schwark
Jeremy Schwark is the Human Factors Engineering Lead at Google, where he is responsible for overseeing the human factors process for all healthcare products and features. These include Software as a Medical Device (SaMDs) that utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning to detect medical conditions and the health features found on Fitbit and other wearable and mobile devices.

Before joining Google, Dr. Schwark worked at Abbott in the neuromodulation division, where he led the human factors work on spinal cord and deep brain stimulation systems. Dr. Schwark also worked as a consultant at Exponent, helping companies solve human factors issues and providing deposition and trial testimony as an expert witness.

Dr. Schwark received a Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology and M.A. in Experimental Psychology from New Mexico State University and a B.A. in Psychology from Trinity University.
