Speaker Bio:

Hannah
Hannah is a Human Factors Engineer within the Product Development team at StarFish Medical. With a background in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Victoria, she found her passion for Human Factors during student work placements throughout the completion of her degree. These opportunities exposed her to the importance of Human Factors in workplace and process design, as well as medical device procurement practices within the hospital setting. She was involved with the simulation-based mock-up evaluation of a universal operating room within Vancouver General Hospital, which engaged clinical users in the design evaluation of future facility renovations. From these experiences, she became driven to apply human factors and usability engineering proactively within medical device product development.

At StarFish Medical, she works collaboratively within a multi-faceted engineering team, to support clients throughout the medical device development pathway. She supports the project team in leading contextual research activities as well as designing and executing usability studies to evaluate and eventually validate the device design. Her projects to date have included ventilators and ventilation accessories, ophthalmic and specialized CT technologies, as well as a smart orthopedic implant.
