IT Seminar - Professional Development Opportunities

Professional Development Opportunities

Check out the new digs! Professional Development (PD) moved to larger facilities in EC3 back in September and now features 3 training rooms, a client lounge, and 3 breakout rooms. This session will be held on-site in Training Room A (EC3-1101) and you will have the opportunity to tour the facility as part of the session.

PD offers a wide variety of non-credit courses designed for working professionals in many popular areas including project management, business analysis, leadership, and business communications. Face-to-face courses are conveniently located in EC3 and most staff receive a 50% discount on these courses!

Dean will discuss the certificates offered, highlight specific courses that may be helpful, outline the differences between the PMP® designation and project management certificates offered by PD, and review the eligibility criteria for the 50% discount for face-to-face courses.

Bio - Dean Perkins

Dean Perkins has a long history with both post-secondary education and technology. He graduated with a business degree from the institution just east of here on University Avenue, and he remembers spending hours playing Castle Wolfenstein on a Commodore 64.

In 2003 Dean began working for the university at the remote outpost on Gage Avenue in Kitchener where Continuing Education was located. He spent some time traveling across North America planning events for Alumni Affairs. Currently he works for Professional Development in EC3.

While he is sometimes referred to as “the Dean of Professional Development” he assures me his monthly remuneration doesn’t match that lofty title.

The session will not be webcasted/recorded.
