In this seminar, Mike will talk about the history of X.509. What’s an ‘X.509’ you ask? It’s actually a digital certificate that uses the international public key infrastructure (PKI) to verify that a public key belongs to the user, computer or service identity contained within the certificate.

He will move on to discuss the current SSL and TLS certificate solutions for campus. As to the future, well, you’ll need to attend or join online as all will be revealed!

Bio: Mike Patterson is the Manager of IT Security Operations within Information Security Services (ISS). Mike began his University career in Alumni Affairs in 2001. From there he moved to Computer Science in 2003 and has been with IST since 2010.
