Date:       Friday, Sept 8

Time:       9:00 am – 9:45 am

Speakers:   Peter Schepers, IST

Solid State Disks (SSD) have been around for many years, but are finally cheap and large enough that new systems, especially laptops, are coming equipped with them.

  • How do they work?
  • How are they made?
  • How long will one last?
  • What should I know about them that might affect how I use one?

In this seminar, Peter will outline the differences between legacy hard disks and SSD’s, especially their strengths, limitations, and security issues.
