CEL MySeats - a comprehensive space sharing app for the hybrid office

Space sharing was identified as a requirement in the Workforce Plan adopted by the Centre for Extended Learning (CEL). In addition to ensuring a productive, positive environment, enhancing work-life balance, recruiting, and retaining healthier, happier staff, while maintaining optimal productivity and service levels, the University realized that reducing space requirements was another key benefit of working from home. The space sharing arrangement is important to ensure that we maximize the space we have and also to ensure everyone has a place to sit and work when they are in the office. In September 2022, CEL Systems rolled out CEL MySeats which is a homegrown space booking system built on MS Power Apps. However, this was difficult to maintain and did not allow the integration of enterprise level maintenance and support. Taking into consideration some of the feedback, CEL Systems has now rolled out the new and improved CEL MySeats 2.0 on Decisions, which is UW’s central business process management (BPM) no-code platform. Among the key features of CEL MySeats 2.0 are interactive floor map, recurring bookings, partial bookings, outlook integration, SSO via ADFS, staff seating list, space/asset management, admin controls, support for accommodations and usage reporting. During this talk we will provide a short demo of how we use the system for space sharing, its reporting capabilities using PowerBI and how we re-equipped the entire office to enable seamless plug-and-play space sharing.

We put data in Azure, but how do we get it out?

Speaker: Sergey Bobkin, Information Systems Specialist (IST)

More and more institutional data is stored in the Azure cloud. Our group primarily supports data stewards and end users in getting insights from this data in the Power BI service. However, we've also enabled other options to get data into system and user hands, with granular permissions, with live query capabilities, and with user consent; join to find out what we've built and what we've learned.
