2025 Fall Convocation

Another convocation approaches! The Faculty of Mathematics Fall 2025 Convocation will take place on Friday, October 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the University of Waterloo. This special occasion celebrates the achievements of our newest graduates as they join a global community of more than 50,000 Math alumni. Congratulations to the Class of 2025 — we are proud of all you have accomplished and excited to see the impact you’ll make in the world.

Computer Museum Open House

Come join our celebration of APL history at the Computer Museum Open House on Saturday, October 25, 2025!

The event will be held in the Davis Centre "Fishbowl" (DC 1301), and will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. We will have various APL-related artifacts on display, along with interactive retro computers and some of our recent acquisitions. There will also be guest exhibits from the KW Computer Heritage Group.

Our Open House is free to attend, and all visitors are welcome!

The Waterloo Math Alumni Class Reunion 2025 took place on the weekend of June 6 and 7, 2025, bringing energy and excitement back to campus.

We proudly celebrated the milestone anniversaries of the Class of 1975 and the Class of 2000. Alumni reconnected with classmates, explored new buildings, and rediscovered the vibrant spirit of Waterloo. It was a wonderful weekend filled with laughter, memories, and shared pride in our Math community.

Thank you to all alumni and guests who joined us — your enthusiasm and Waterloo spirit made the celebration truly special.

The Faculty of Mathematics Spring 2025 Convocation at the University of Waterloo took place on Wednesday, June 11, celebrating the achievements of our newest graduates as they crossed the stage to receive their degrees. Surrounded by family, friends, and faculty, the Class of 2025 marked this milestone with pride and excitement for the future. Google partners with University of Waterloo to shape the future of work and learning

On October 1, 2025, University of Waterloo and Google announced a research collaboration that will examine the impact of artificial intelligence on education and career readiness. The partnership includes a $1 million research agreement to create the Google Chair in the Future of Work and Learning.  Read more... 

Following the announcement, the inaugural lecture for the Google Chair in the Future of Work and Learning was presented by Professor Edith Law and Jules Walter, Director of Project Management at Google.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, we celebrated the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Achievement Medal and the 2025 J.W. Graham Medal in Computing and Innovation with an honorary luncheon and award ceremony.

The Math Innovation Office and the Dean of Mathematics Office were proud to host the 2025 Alumni Career Success Panel on October 7 — an inspiring event that welcomed accomplished Math alumni back to campus to share their career journeys and insights with students.
