It has been a busy summer in the Geomicrobiology lab. In May, Decla and Jenine attended and presented research at the 3rd International Geobiology Society Conference in Banff. The conference was a great opportunity to learn about the most recent advances in geobiology research from some of the world leading experts in the field. Decla also travelled to Prague, Czechia to present her Ph.D. research at Goldschmidt, which is the foremost geochemistry conference in the world!

Annabelle Teoli-Hunter was awarded an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) and joined the group as a summer co-op Geomicrobiology lab technician. Annabelle conducted fieldwork at the historic Long Lake Gold Mine near Sudbury, ON, where she collected samples that she is studying to better understand microbial and algal growth in arsenic contaminated environments.
