Real-Time Assessment of Knee Osteoarthritis Pain and Physical Activity

Sore knee?

We are studying how knee osteoarthritis pain and psychological factors affect daily physical activity levels throughout the day.

Participation will involve:

  • 1 virtual 1:1 interview: 20 minutes
  • Completing questionnaires about you (age, sex, gender, race), your experience of pain, level of physical activity and ability to complete daily tasks.
  • Wear a monitor to measure your physical activity for 9 days
  • Use of a mobile app for 8 days to record pain levels

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 40 to 75 years of age
  • Have knee pain or knee osteoarthritis 
  • Communicate in English 
  • Have access to a mobile phone or device

Exclusion Criteria

  • Other form of arthritis (e.g., rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis)

  • Lower extremity injury within 6 months and actively participating in rehabilitation

  • Neurological conditions 

  • Active cancer treatment
