Reid was a student in mathematical physics at the University of Waterloo when he became interested in computational social science, social networks, and the sociology of science after taking a seminar with Dr. John McLevey. After the seminar they began collaborating on a Python package called metaknowledge, which facilitates computational and quantitative research on science. By working on this project, Reid became the first official NETLAB developer!
After graduating, Reid completed a master's degree in computational social science at Knowledge Lab at the University of Chicago. He is currently a PhD Student in computer science at the University of Toronto.
Reid is primarily interested in machine learning and natural language processing. He continues to collaborate with Dr. McLevey on the Python package metaknowledge.
