Every shot, a shot of gold

The Waterloo School of Pharmacy implemented a mass vaccination clinic for COVID-19 immunization in 2021.

With many multidisciplinary teams working together in an environment not built for such a complex clinical system, researchers at the University of Waterloo created an app to support front-line workers. The app streamlined information flow to help solve logistical challenges that arose.

Co-op Students of the Year make a difference in changing workforce

The University of Waterloo’s Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE) announced the award winners recently in a hybrid in-person and virtual ceremony.

Compounding pharmacies experience higher demand during medication shortages

When Joseph Abdelnour (PharmD ’24, in progress) accepted his recent co-op work term at Avalon Compound Pharmacy (ACP), he never anticipated the new challenges he would face.

With no children’s cold medications available in Ottawa and the inability to order from distributors, pharmacists were advising patients to visit nearby emergency rooms, where they must wait for many hours. The other common advice is to visit compounding pharmacies.

Designing her world

The daughter of two professional violinists, Danielle Grabke was exposed to thoughtfully designed environments from a very young age.

Her childhood memories recall many excursions to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto — she has seen over a dozen performances of the Nutcracker and still finds new ways to love it. What struck her most as a child, though, was how the building itself contributed to her enjoyment of what she was watching.

Welcome back, hackers

Hack the North, Canada’s largest hackathon and one of the largest collegiate hackathons in the world, is back live and in-person at the University of Waterloo this weekend. Friday through Sunday, over 1,000 students from around the world will converge on campus for 36 intense hours of building innovative software applications and hardware projects.
