Initiative calls for research on affordable energy technologies
About 2.5 billion people around the world have no access to electricity or basic energy services, and a new initiative launched at the University of Waterloo today will establish a platform for the research and development of innovative energy technologies to reach every global citizen
UWaterloo and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany are collaborating to seek active participation of researchers and affiliated institutions, thought leaders in the academy, civil society groups, philanthropic organizations, innovators, and government and industry leaders.
At a free public event this afternoon, Professor Jatin Nathwani, the executive director of the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy at the University of Waterloo, will discuss the pathways to a low-carbon energy future with the launching of the Global Change Initiative.
