Do libraries still matter in the age of Google? Do we need to collect and keep printed books, and pay to maintain the buildings that house them?
These were questions CBC host Peter Mansbridge put to his audience from Waterloo’s Stratford Campus, for a special remote broadcast of Cross Country Checkup.
Like most children growing up in Canada, Laura Morrison took playtime for granted. “Trips to the park, games of hide and seek, I thought it’s just what all kids did,” the third-year Recreation and Leisure Studies student says.
But as she knows now, for millions of children around the world, play is considered a luxury—not a right.

The Science Behind Ebola: Evolution, Epidemiology, and Experimental Treatments is sponsored by the Faculties of Science, Engineering, and Applied Health Sciences, and features presentations from three Waterloo experts:

Students from 100 different institutions will be in the Engineering 5 building from September 19-21 to take on competitors from the U.S., Britain, China, Netherlands and Brazil.
