WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Aug. 29, 2011) - An ambitious partnership involving the Ontario government, postsecondary sector and Schlegel Villages will develop a centre of excellence for research, training and innovation in senior health care and wellness at the University of Waterloo. The goal is to help Canada better prepare for an aging population.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Aug. 8, 2011) - The University of Waterloo is inviting members of the public to participate in a star-gazing party on Friday, Aug. 12.

The free event, which runs from 8:15 p.m. until midnight, features presentations on meteors and astrophysics and offers visitors of all ages a chance to explore the night sky with telescopes and star charts.

Members from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and some of Waterloo’s astronomy faculty and students will also be on hand to answer any questions star-gazers may have.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, July 19, 2011) - University of Waterloo engineering students will display product designs this week that offer innovative solutions to challenges occurring in such diverse sports activities as bike racing, judo and tennis.

On Friday, 12 student groups in a third-year systems design engineering course will present a product design exhibition on sports engineering. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in room 1301 of the William G. Davis Computer Research Centre.

Organizers expect more than 60,000 local residents will join the university community to celebrate Canada's 144th birthday on Friday, July 1, at the Columbia Lake fields, along Columbia Street West. The student-led event, now in its 27th year, offers a wide range of fun activities for all ages and diverse musical entertainment.

(Sunday, June 5, 2011) - The University of Waterloo has honoured its fifth university president and Canada’s 28th Governor General, the Right Honourable David Johnston, by officially renaming its highly successful research and technology park the David Johnston Research + Technology Park.

WATERLOO, Ont. – Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Sharon Johnston will attend the official renaming of the University of Waterloo research and technology park this weekend. The Governor General will unveil the new sign at the entrance of the David Johnston Research and Technology Park.
