St. Paul's University College will change its name this fall to United College.
Founded by the United Church as St. Paul's United College in 1962, the college and the church agreed to end their affiliation two decades ago. At that point, the institution became St. Paul's University College.
Over the past week, our community came together to mark some significant milestones in the lives of our alumni and graduating students. More than 7,000 degrees, diplomas and certificates were awarded during 16 convocation ceremonies and 4 celebrations. Never before have we celebrated convocations for three classes – from 2020, 2021 and 2022 – in one week. Perhaps most significant was the opportunity to once again connect in person with our friends and colleagues.
The Recent Engineering Alumni Council (REAC) was established in Fall 2021 to support the nearly 13,000 Waterloo Engineering recent graduates and current students in building a strong community and culture of connection.

In recognition of their unique experience at Waterloo, local artist Nicole Beno was commissioned to create an art piece that symbolized the unique memories, knowledge and friendships of each alumnus.
The keepsake was presented to each alumnus after they walked across the stage, and contains the signature of the artist with a unique print number.
Jeremy Pittman, a professor of Planning in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, was recently appointed as a member of new federal Nature Advisory Committee (NAC), created by Environment and Climate Change Canada to foster ways for Canadians to engage positively with our natural environment.
