Biography
Armughan works with professors and companies to align shared interests and develop collaborative research and commercialization projects across the University of Waterloo. As Corporate Research Partnerships Manager within the Office of the Vice-President, Research and International (OVPRI), his portfolio focuses primarily on critical minerals and mining and nuclear energy, followed by Arctic sovereignty and energy and the environment.
Armughan’s professional experience spans corporate research partnerships, sustainable energy research, business development, project management, and innovation strategy. Since joining the University of Waterloo in March 2015, he has developed and managed strategic collaborations among academia, industry, government agencies, and research institutes. In his current role within OVPRI, he supports industry-engaged research, proposal development, externally funded partnerships, applied research translation, technology commercialization, and large-scale pilot projects. Armughan holds a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology from the University of Waterloo, as well as a Bachelor of Health Studies from York University.
