Rajee Tamrakar is a PhD student at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University. She holds a Master of Science in Geography from Southern Illinois University. Her research interests focus on how retreat decisions are shaped by different dimensions, including governance structures, institutional capacity, financial systems, and socioeconomic constraints, and on why similar communities experience very different outcomes. In her past work, she quantified the costs and benefits of managed retreat in two levee-protected communities in Illinois.
