Bringing to life the Waterloo Student Experience and Engagement (WatSEE) Framework for thriving students
Addresses objectives: C2A Inspire collaboration across the institution
In December 2021 Waterloo’s Special Advisor on Student Experience delivered the WatSEE Framework which provides a holistic approach to student experience. The framework outlines three core elements to create a thriving student experience: expand expertise, develop self, and build relations. During 2021-2022, the WatSEE Framework was socialized with faculties and academic support units to build engagement in the framework and commitment to action through integration into existing planning processes. Discussions with internal stakeholders are ongoing to identify new and optimize existing resources that align with the WatSEE Framework. Resource optimization will occur by identifying successful Waterloo initiatives that can be adopted by other units, expanded, or scaled.

Moving forward: In 2022 the University used the WatSEE Framework to redevelop an internal student experience survey to better understand student perceptions of their experience at Waterloo. This survey was piloted in May 2022 and used on an ongoing basis starting in fall 2022 as a key tool for monitoring student experience.
