The process of discovery and open debate in universities is an important driver of material progress and well-being in our societies, and serves as a model of rigorous yet respectful deliberation for citizens and governments at large.
TheWaterloo Initiative on Debate and Progress aims to reignite open and civil debate on campus, free from partisan outrage and fear of condemnation for challenging the status quo. We seek to facilitate interdisciplinary debate on ideas from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, both separately and together, bringing into dialogue opposing views in pursuit of better understanding and human advancement.
