Web Steering Committee - update (Tom Graham)
- Tom presented the next steps regarding membership of the Web Steering Committee. The presentation is available online.
WCMS 3
Training and Support (Andrea Jennings)
- Initial meetings have been had to determine migration and support needs to help website leads and users to be better prepared for migrations as they will continue to increase, and larger sites will need to get ready to migrate.
If you would like to reach out to discuss your WCMS migration support needs, or have questions you’d like to discuss, please reach out to Joe Kwan. - Recently we had our team complete a second eligibility review of Wave 1 non-custom FDSU sites so that the eligibility criteria aligns with any new migration issues that we’re now aware of.
We’ll be sending a second email to website leads with that refreshed list, and with the suggestion of a handful of those sites that our Training and Support team can migrate and remediate for you. - Join the UWweb mailing list! If you’re not on the list or aren’t sure if you are, or want to get back on it, just send an email to Andrea Jennings.

Development (Kevin Paxman)
- Issues with the 3.1.4 release that we were shipping this week caused us to have to revert to backups taken just before the release
- This only affected WCMS 3 sites; WCMS 2 and Scholar sites were not affected.
- While there were some regressions, the primary reason was that an image block update did not complete correctly, leaving some pages on some sites missing images and those pages being uneditable.
- Reversions started just after 3:30pm yesterday, and most sites are done now, but we are doing some basic verification steps before we release them.
- Until notified, please continue to refrain from editing WCMS 3 sites.
- If you did not see the notification, please consider joining the web email list or monitoring the WCMS 3 Teams channel in the Campus IT Team.
- 3.1.4 release will be delayed until we either fix the block update or remove that change for now, and will be specifically tested against copies of some of the sites that reported issues before going live.
- Restoring from backup is a manual, per-site process, and we have since taken some steps to make this somewhat less complex should the need occur in the future.
- Drupal security releases today, will be evaluated shortly.
- Expand/collapse testing wraps up today – if anyone feels they need an extra day or two because of the editing freeze, please let me know ASAP.
- Focus points in the current sprint include:
- Beginning work on supporting authentication-required sites.
- Beginning work on adding references support (what WCMS 2 called “bibliography” or sometimes “publication” functionality).
- Adjusting multi-banner theming to match WCMS 2.
- Automated migration improvements.
General Update ( Daryl Doe/Joe Kwan)
- Daryl gave the committee an overview of the updated to WCMS 3 and what is happening moving forward.
- Areas of concerns were brought forward;
- Would like to see an road map of some more accurate estimates moving forward, so that departments can get a better idea of what is happening, and then in turn properly plan.
- Concerns were raised will IST not having enough staff/support for this launch, in order to help each department.
- With smaller sites not taking as long to migrate, how will larger sites fare through this, how will larger sites fare through this migration and is testing being done at this time.
- Daryl has heard all of our concerns, his team and him will continue provide updates to the committee as soon as they arise, ensuring an open dialogue continues.
