Held Thursday, April 24 at 10:30am-noon in MC 1058

2. Principles for Future University of Waterloo Web Content Management

  1. "Separation of presentation and navigation" needs description -- Paul to write
  2. "Ease of Maintenance"
  • web content contributors:
    • add "without requiring knowledge of HTML";
    • add "ease of workflow".
  • website administrators:
    • discuss workflow managementt;
    • use example of reorganizing website.
  • template creators:
    • add "apply" after "implement";
    • include Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Coders and Graphics in description.
  • web developers:
    • add-ins and widgets must be incorporated;
    • use example of "calendar creation";
    • migration should be addressed; * systems support:
    • change to "system administration";
    • include examples such as, traffic monitoring, load balancing, configuration, restoration, backup, patching, versioning.

3. Alignment of principles with existing maintenance at University of Waterloo

    • decided that chart should reflect what we're doing now;
    • use of CMS is too low to include in chart;
    • Paul to draft explanatory introduction;

  • Concern was noted that we shouldn't be contacting other institutions until we develop questions to ask
  • should use principles as basis for questions
  • report from Alan Bell lists key questions
  • RFP from UC Irvine to be distributed by Eva

  • need to add definition of DMS to list of acronyms (Eva)
  • need to add revision level/date on report (Eva)
