1. Administration

  • Approval of minutes.

2. Is now the time to move forward with this? (considering Content Management Systems [CMS])

  • An update will be provided to WAB summarizing our discussion, explaining where we are currently at. Give them the opportunity to help make this decision.
  • Megan drafted an overview/backgrounder document for the Content Management System project group (attached)
  • How does search fit into the CMS
  • A CMS will require all new URLs
  • Need to ensure that the search tool will work with CMS
  • Money is an issue – to do both
  • Energy, time, human resources will all be a factor
  • How much time will Google Appliance take to implement
  • Appliance benefits come from the adjustments (which means time and resources) and if we are not using them right off the bat then we may not be able to justify the costs
  • Paul suggest we put it on hold until we know what is going on with CMS (month or so)
  • Interested to see how free search tools handle a CMS (index rates etc.)
  • If CMS required new URLs, an appliance will help ensure it gets indexed faster
  • Do we need to spend more time looking at how our search is broken?
  • Do we need to do more research before we present to the board?
  • We will discuss at Thursdays meeting with Web advisory

3. Is relevance and timeliness a problem currently?

  • Please continue to monitor and document this.
  • Need proof that the appliance will help us out.
