Chris Houser appointed next Dean of Science

The Faculty of Science is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Chris Houser as the 10th dean of science for the University of Waterloo. His five-year term will begin on July 1, 2023.

Houser, a geoscientist, joins Waterloo from the University of Windsor where he is the Dean of Science and a professor in the School of the Environment. Currently, he is the Interim Vice-President Research and Innovation at the University of Windsor. He has proven experience in administration, a strong research program and passion for teaching.

“I am excited to be joining the University of Waterloo and having the opportunity to lead one of the strongest and most innovative faculties of Science in Canada,” Houser said. “I look forward to working with faculty, staff, students, alumni and community partners to strengthen the reputation of the Faculty of Science across Canada and globally.”
