Faculty Fellowships

Nature of the Award, Eligibility and Term of Appointment

The title of Faculty Fellow is intended to recognize a faculty member whose scholarly work is widely known and respected internationally, who is an accomplished teacher at all levels, and who has displayed a high level of commitment and dedication to her/his department and/or faculty.

Any individual appointed to a full-time regular academic position may be awarded a Faculty Fellowship, and will hold the title of Faculty of Environment Faculty Fellow. Each appointment normally will be for a two-year term, although appointments for a shorter period may be appropriate. Faculty members may be awarded a fellowship more than once, but may not hold them for consecutive terms. No more than one fellowship will be awarded each year.

The Faculty of Environment Faculty Fellow will receive either a teaching reduction of one term-course or a stipend of $10,500 in each year of the award.

Selection of Fellows

The award of a Faculty Fellowship will be made by the Dean, in consultation with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. Recommendations for the award of a Faculty Fellowship are made by a department chair, in consultation with the department associate chairs.
