Immigration Landscape Sept. 2020: As the current crisis moves into its sixth month, the Canada-US land borders continue to remain closed to non-essential and discretionary travel (pursuant to Federal Government and legislative mandatory rules), online application processing for all Canadian immigration documents have slowed down significantly and finalization on current Permanent Residency applications have been delayed. Knowing upfront the times needed for processing, both within the University and with Immigration Canada, will allow for a better understanding of what can be accomplished such as a realistic start date and when to enter Canada. Each matter is individual and there may be exemptions to the restrictions that may apply to one situation but not another. LIS can assist by providing guidance and advise on the current landscape of Immigration Canada processing offices and what to expect and when.

Please contact LIS as soon as possible to alleviate any misunderstandings or obtain clarification on the mandatory immigration rules and travel restrictions.
