Whether it be standard SPME fibers or the more sensitive thin-film microextraction devices, SPME comes in many shapes and sizes dependant on their intended application. This section is dedicated to briefly describing each of these morphologies in detail. For those interested, an in-depth overview of our recent and open-access comprehensive review entitled, "Advances in solid phase microextraction and perspective on future directions" which describes the most recent developments in SPME based samplers and extraction phases for food, fragrance, environmental and bio-analytical applications.
