Brian Mao graduated from the University of Waterloo with a MMath in Applied Mathematics in 2023. He also received a BASc in Mechanical Engineering with a Mathematics Minor from the University of Waterloo in 2020.
The research for his thesis focused on road surface estimation using machine learning, where he was co-supervised by Kirsten Morris (Infinite Dimensional Systems) and Amir Khajepour (Mechatronic Vehicle Systems Lab).
He also led the Path Planning, Controls, and Vehicle Modeling teams at MIT Driverless throughout 4 international autonomous racing competitions.
