Chris Read, Associate Provost, Students (he/him)
Chris has dedicated his career to supporting students at the University of Waterloo. Over the course of his 25+ years on campus, Chris has focused on improving student life and influencing a culture of student wellness across the University.
His UWaterloo career started in Campus Housing, where Chris spent his time working directly with students and seeing first-hand how he could make an impact and contribute to the student experience on campus. Those initial years at UWaterloo strengthened his drive to find ways to make a difference and contribute to efforts that have an impact on the experiences of our student community.
When the Associate Provost, Students (APS) role became available, Chris was immediately drawn to the opportunity. With a variety of experiences across campus, Chris had observed opportunities to align efforts and seek synergies across the APS departments to increase the collective impact of the programs, services, and supports each of them offered.
Chris has an undergraduate business degree and a master’s in business administration. He has held positions of accountability in the W Store, Creative Services, and Campus Housing and continues to demonstrate remarkable leadership in initiating services and partnerships to benefit our students. Chris plays a key role in guiding the vision, development, and implementation of university-wide student success and engagement initiatives.
