We know that our students’ experiences at Waterloo have a significant impact on their well-being. We strive to provide meaningful and diverse opportunities outside of the classroom for students to gain new and valuable skills, develop relationships and connect with the community.
INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY
We are committed to developing programs, spaces, and opportunities that promote student engagement and community building that meet the needs of new and continuing students. We will ensure equitable access to opportunities and experiences across the portfolio through a shared commitment in this ongoing and important work of creating an inclusive student experience. Creating a community that evokes a sense of connection and belonging is crucial as we work to meet the ever-evolving, complex issues and concerns of our community.
COLLECTIVE IMPACT
We are changing the way we coordinate our efforts, to develop ideas, initiatives, and communication strategies that are backed by collective impact. Seeking ways to collaborate and co-create our student-centred initiatives will enable us to provide our students with comprehensive and seamless access to the tools and resources that enhance the student experience.
LISTENING AND ADAPTING
The needs of our student community are ever evolving. We are committed to listening to our students and adapting to their needs. We will use student surveys, consultations, and insights to improve the initiatives that shape the student experience. As our students transition in and out of our campus community, we will continue to ask how we can make their time at UWaterloo the best experience possible.
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Creating opportunities for our students to meaningfully engage in their education builds capacity for them to succeed both academically and socially. Supports and resources that nurture academic success and learning experiences contribute to students meeting their goals. We are committed to delivering supports and opportunities that elevate the UWaterloo student experience and enhance what happens inside the classroom.
COMMUNITY WELL-BEING
Our students’ health and well-being are what matter most, and we are committed to helping them access and navigate the resources available at UWaterloo and within the greater community. We are working to remove barriers to student wellness supports by sharing resources and opportunities that promote physical health, mental well-being, emotional balance, social connection, and spiritual safety.
