Our research in this area operates at the intersection of advanced vehicle electrification and vehicle communications technologies, where we specialize in the development of intelligent vehicle controllers for connected hybrid and electric vehicles that can leverage information provided by emerging ITS, GPS, GIS, and advanced V2V/V2I communication technologies to optimize key performance characteristics, such as fuel economy, energy efficiency, and safety, in real-time. Most of these intelligent controllers are designed using the MPC approach. Prototypes of these control systems are also tested within our unique, world-class GAIA research facility to accelerate commercialization of our results.
