Automation and Intelligent Systems group partnered with Columbiad Launch Services Inc. to tackle one of the most fundamental challenges in the space domain, ephemeris. With space becoming more contested and congested, space assets are in dire need to be protected from resident space objects (RSOs), including other satellites and debris, and adversarial attempts. As a satellite's lifespan depends on its limited fuel, object avoidance maneuvers need to be optimized, which relies on making accurate predictions on the motion of other space objects. With Columbiad Launch Services Inc., we developed an AI platform that is orders of magnitude more accurate than the industry's standard techniques, and with the partnership ahead, we plan on achieving much more in automating this domain.
