Grade 10 Girls Conference applicants will be evaluated on the following components:
Applications will open on February 1st. 2017
Applications are due February 22, 2017
Offers will go out throughout February - March 2017
Using this application process, the Catalyst office will select a diverse group of individuals who are likely to benefit from, and succeed at the conference. The conference is intended for girls who attended the kick-off (or a Go CODE Girl event) and have progressed in learning since the kick-off. If time/distance are a barrier to attending these events, please contact us to get access to the online portion of the program.
This means that advanced knowledge or experience will not give an applicant any advantage over someone else. We are looking for a commitment to learning computational thinking and software engineering concepts.
The information form collects contact information, courses in progress, and other relevant information. This form also allows you to submit your answer to the At Home Challenge electronically (if appropriate).
After tackling the fundamentals of computer science at the kick-off, we would like you to demonstrate a self-directed approach to your learning.
Therefore, we'd like you to complete the first coding activity - At Home Challenge 1. Again, we simply want to see a commitment to learning; we are not looking for experienced coders.
