Ode to Mendeleev

A man named Mendeleev, Dimitri

Set his mind to work so completely,

He invented a table

With which he was able

To organize elements neatly.

With inquisitive mind now abated,

He made some predictions and waited,

Until such a day

In some such a way

The elements were found as he stated.

Dimitri was hailed a prophet,

To which he replied, O come off it!

I am sure you can see

Just as plainly as me,

One can read my predictions right off it.
