Ensuring a sustainable future

The University of Waterloo believes in having a positive impact on the environment.

Our actions matter, both locally and globally. Through environmental education, transformational research, operational sustainability, and community engagement, we are making a difference for future generations.

“Sustainability is not only part of the action it inspires, but an embedded foundation of Waterloo’s culture. That’s because it is not only the right thing to do, but it brings multiple benefits to the organization and the community.”

TOVA DAVIDSON, Executive Director, Sustainable Waterloo Region

Building a sustainable walkway for our campus

The Davis Centre Redevelopment Project, which involved paving an egress created by frequent foot traffic, was established in August 2013 originating from Sustainable Campus Initiative (SCI).

In future years, SCI hopes that students will be able to enjoy a healthy courtyard with the elimination of ice and mud build-up on the walkway.
