Dr. Katie Misener presented research at the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) Conference in Greece! Her work examined how community sport organization leaders perceive the importance and feasibility of safeguarding practices. The study brought together 25 community sport leaders across two workshops in Ontario to identify, rate, and group safeguarding practices based on their perceived importance and feasibility. Findings highlighted a distinction between practices that are considered important but difficult to implement and those that are both important and feasible, emphasizing the influence of organizational capacity on safeguarding implementation. The research highlights the need to align safeguarding expectations with the realities of community sport organizations and provides insight into how practical, sustainable safeguarding can be supported at the grassroots level.
EASM is an international sport management association that connects researchers and practitioners and supports knowledge creation and exchange across the field.
