Dr. Luke Potwarka and PhD Candidate Adam Pappas working in partnership with the Region of Waterloo to examine the social and economic impacts of hosting sporting events.

As part of this collaboration, they recently conducted on-site research at the Call of Duty National Championship and the U SPORTS Women’s Hockey Championship, collecting data on spectator experiences and local tourism. This work provides valuable insights into how visitors perceive Kitchener-Waterloo as a host destination and identifies opportunities to enhance future events.

Looking ahead, Luke and Adam will continue their research with the Region at several upcoming events, including the Ontario Summer Games.
