The University of Waterloo's Ethical Behavior Policy #33 states:
That no member of the university community (faculty, staff, student) unduly interfere with the study, work or working environment of other members of the university.
If you are offended by exposure to:
- unwelcome remarks, jokes, innuendos or taunting
- displaying of offensive or derogatory pictures, sounds or text
- practical jokes that cause awkwardness or embarrassment
- any lound or distracting behaviour which significantly degrades the work environment
You may choose to:
- tell the person who is offending you that you would like it to stop immediately
Or
- if you feel uncomfortable with this approach, contact the computing support officer responsible for the lab or the Associate Dean of Computing for the faculty
If you are unsure as to what to do, it is important that you speak with someone - a friend, co-worker, professor or one of the campus resources.
