Course evaluations opened on Monday, July 4 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 15. Here are some best practices for instructors:
In advance
- Schedule an evaluation date for each class you're teaching (ideally near the beginning or middle of class)
- Tell your students early in the two-week evaluation period when you will give class time for course evaluations
- In the class prior, remind students to bring a web-enabled device for evaluation day (smartphone, laptop, or tablet)
On evaluation day
- Display the PowerPoint slide or write the evaluate web address on the board
- Tell the students how their feedback will inform your teaching
- Remind them that their responses are anonymous
- Leave the room for 10-15 minutes while they complete
After evaluation day
- Log in to the evaluate platform to check the response rate
- If it's low, remind students in a subsequent class that you'd like their feedback and ask them to complete the survey
- If it's high, thank students for their time and feedback
