Environmental Virology and Ecology Research Group

The Environmental Virology and Ecology Research Group (ENVERG) is led by Dr. Nissimov and is focused on the study of microbial host organisms in aquatic environments and the viruses that infect them. The group has a particular interest in the co-evolutionary relationships of hosts and their viruses, the role that viruses play in shaping microbial communities and ecologically important processes, and the effects that climate change and different physicochemical parameters have on bacterial- and algal-virus dynamics.
