Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day!
On June 19th, in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Office of Indigenous Relations (OIR) and the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) invite you to a celebration at BMH Green. Join us for a vibrant lunchtime concert featuring talented Indigenous student musicians, artisans, and cultural showcases. Enjoy a free "Taco in a Bag" lunch and connect in community as we celebrate Indigenous cultures and voices.
Inuit Identity: Who Is Resilient Inuk by Resilient Inuk
In honour of National Indigenous History Month and Indigenous Peoples Day, the UWaterloo Libraries present a session exploring the key aspects of Inuit identity, including the structure and importance of Inuit family trees, the cultural significance of the ulu, and the lasting trauma caused by derogatory terms, tuberculosis treatment policies and forced relocations.
Vanessa Brousseau, also known as Resilient Inuk, will share both heartfelt storytelling and historical context to foster understanding and support reconciliation through education.

Libraries Indigenous Mural Unveiling
Join the Libraries for a celebration marking the installation of new Indigenous murals at our Waterloo campus locations. University Librarian Beth Namachchivaya will share how the new artwork contributes to the Libraries’ decolonization efforts. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Shad Waterloo 2025 Open Day Exhibits
The participants of the Shad Waterloo high school enrichment program are holding a public open house to share highlights of their experiences, including creative ideas they have come up with to tackle this year’s design project theme.
Shad is a STEAM summer enrichment experience for high school students from across Canada (and around the world!). During Shad, students develop skills such as understanding and solving problems, communicating effectively, thinking critically, and collaborating within teams through hands-on projects.

IBPOC Student Writing Cafés
The IBPOC Student Writing Cafés are spaces where Indigenous, Black, and graduate students of colour can come together to form supportive communities of writers. Structured by timed writing spurts and breaks, these groups make space for concerns specific to IBPOC writers.

Grab a coffee and get writing. Join our network of graduate student, postdoc, and faculty writers at the Grad Writing Café! Meet other writers, stay on track, and make progress on your work. Writing doesn't have to be solitary!
Employer Information Sessions for June 25th
Calling all graduate students! Join us for an event featuring Jenike & Johanson, a globally recognized engineering firm specializing in the science of bulk material handling. Founded by Dr. Andrew Jenike, the company pioneered the field of bulk solids flow and storage. This employer information session is for students looking to land a full-time role.
This event will be held in E6 Room 4022.
J&J is looking for students interested in working across a variety of industries, including mining, geology, chemical science, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable energy. This event is targeted to all engineering students (mechanical, computer, chemical, etc.) as well as geologists and students in mining-related disciplines, but anybody is welcome!
