We are excited to announce an important milestone for the Doro research study. The Agentic GenAI-Enabled Psychotherapeutic Interventions for Well-Being: A Pilot Research Study of Feasibility and Safety has received Research Ethics Board (REB) approval, marking the official launch of the study.
This first-of-its-kind pilot study will evaluate the feasibility and safety of delivering psychotherapeutic interventions through an agentic generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) application, Doro. The study is designed to assess key aspects of the intervention, including participant engagement, usability, safety monitoring and study procedures. The findings will help inform the design of a future large-scale clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of GenAI-enabled psychotherapeutic interventions for improving well-being.
Receiving REB approval is an important milestone that reflects the careful planning and development of the study, including its ethical, privacy and participant safety considerations. As one of the first studies of its kind, this research has the potential to contribute valuable evidence on the responsible use of generative AI in mental health and well-being.
The research team will begin participant recruitment in the coming weeks. Additional information about eligibility and how to participate will be shared as recruitment opens.
We look forward to taking this next step and thank everyone who has contributed to making this milestone possible.
