Workshop Advancing Technology for Environmental Measurement
A one-day interdisciplinary workshop was held on Oct. 1st 2024, hosted by the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, for scientists to identify challenges measuring the environment and explore ways sensing technologies can close those gaps.
The Advancing Technology for Environmental Measurement workshop brought together faculty and graduate students developing sensor technologies with those measuring the environment. Through panel discussions, presentations, breakout groups, and networking opportunities, the workshop identified environmental parameters with measurement challenges and the gaps, limitations, and barriers that technologies need to overcome to be used for environmental measurement. In addition, it explore opportunities for the GEMM initiative to build on the strengths of the University of Waterloo to create cross-faculty collaborations that will advance technology for environmental measurement.
