Award description: 

Scholarships valued at $10,000/year for one year, with an opportunity for renewal, will be awarded annually to graduate students registered full-time in a research-based program at the University of Waterloo who are conducting research in cybersecurity or privacy. Eligible students must be supervised or co-supervised by faculty members affiliated with the Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute (CPI).

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • Graduate students registered full-time in any Faculty who are supervised or co-supervised by a faculty member affiliated with CPI
  • Academic excellence, e.g., supported by cumulative average or publications
  • Research focus in cybersecurity or privacy

Based on continued demonstration of excellence in cybersecurity or privacy, full-time registration in the program and good academic standing in their program, a scholarship can be renewed up to three times for a PhD student and up to one time for a Master's student in their current program.

Interested students must submit an application package consisting of a short CV (including a list of publications and awards), a description of their research area, a transcript and a short letter of support from their graduate supervisor by June 30 to the Operations Manager of the CPI.

Selection will be made by a committee chaired by the Executive Director of CPI in July.
