Our Awards Database helps current and future Waterloo graduate students to identify funding opportunities. Details on awards, bursaries and other scholarships administered through Waterloo are found within. Students are advised to check the database often as changes to award information including eligibility criteria, award value, application process, deadlines and the availability of funds can occur at any time.
The database is searchable using a variety of criteria:
Criteria | Description |
---|---|
Level | Search for funding available to Master's or Doctoral students or select "Any" for funding open to both. |
Award Type | Narrow your search to bursaries and need based funding, awards for specific areas of research etc. or select "Any" to include all options. |
Selection Process | Specify only awards to which you can apply etc. or select "Any" to include all options. |
Affiliation | Search only for awards available to specific groups of students like part-time, women etc. or select "Any" to include all options. |
Program | Search on funding available to your specific program or select "any" to include all options. |
Term | Search awards available in a specific term or select "Any" to include all options. |
Citizenship | Search funding available to domestic or international students or select "Any" to include all options. |
Keyword search | Enter any keyword(s) which relate to your search, if applicable. It is strongly recommended that you use quotations around key words of two or more in order to generate accurate results, e.g. use “day care bursary” instead of day care bursary. |
Each selection category defaults to "Any" if you do not select something specific. To search all awards, let each selection category default to "Any" and click the Submit button. The search results will return all awards in the database in alphabetical order by award name. It is strongly recommended that you use quotations around key words of two or more in order to generate accurate results, e.g. use “day care bursary” instead of day care bursary.
The OGS program is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the postsecondary institution, where the Province contributes 2/3 of the award value and the remainder 1/3 comes from institutional funds which can be paid through donor-funded awards. Donor funding may not necessarily be in excess of what students have already received via the OGS, but rather assists the University in paying its required contribution. For further information regarding this, please contact the Associate Director, Graduate Financial Aid and Awards.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
