The HSDL is a group of researchers, at the faculty and graduate and undergraduate student level, interested in working with various types of high-dimensional health data, including intensive longitudinal data. Much of our current work involves modeling different aspects of complex data within critical care (intensive care unit, or ICU) databases, including a focus on predictive modeling of outcomes of ICU patients. However, this predictive modeling focus generalizes to many other aspects of health, such as smoking behaviour, hormone processes, physical activity, infectious diseases, etc. Members of the lab have expertise in longitudinal data analysis, including for multivariate longitudinal data, causal inference, functional data analysis, statistical/machine learning methods, and survival analysis, with most of our members in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, at UW.
