PhD Student Chat with Jingru Yan - Aviation Human Factors

On May 12th, 2022 at 4:00 PM (EST), our fifth speaker event of the year will feature Jingru Yan who works at Air Canada. The UW HFES Student Chapter welcomes Jingru for a casual chat about her background and work experience in human factors. Speaker Bio:

Growing up in China, Jingru graduated from high school, not entirely sure of which career path to take but gained a place at the Civil Aviation University of China to study a Bachelor of Engineering – Safety Engineering & Safety Management. It was then that she became passionate about aviation. After graduating, Jingru went on to study a Master of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering (Human Factors in Aviation) at the University of Waterloo in Canada, before working her way to her dream job at Air Canada – Manager of Human Factors and Performance. Her experience and training in aviation industry has largely involved in safety management system, safety investigation and human factors training. Jingru has recently returned to UW as a part-time PhD student to continue her study in aviation human factors and explore innovative competency-based pilot training.
