Last summer, our Student Chapter President Ryan Tennant developed a mobile application to support the COVID-19 mass vaccination clinics in the Region of Waterloo. The purpose of the app is to connect the Clinic Lead and Vaccine Draw-Up Lead to ensure that they can efficiently communicate changes in client numbers and vaccine preparation in real-time. A dashboard screen displays updated information on changes in client intake and vaccine preparation while automatically calculating the number of end-of-day doses that will be available to reduce cognitive workload and vaccine waste. The app was developed, tested, and implemented in partnership with the Advanced Interface Design Lab and researchers from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo.
