Bayo Akomolafe

Bayo Akomolafe was a Master’s student studying Sustainability Management in the Faculty of Environment’s School of Environment, Enterprise, and Development (SEED) of University of Waterloo.

Bayo holds a Bachelors of Engineering and Master’s degree from a Russian university. His past research was an engineering analysis of process equipment construction materials focusing on cyclic fatigue in steel under high operational temperature and pressure.

His research focuses on the pathways for decarbonization of power generation, electrification of the “last mile” and sustainable energy systems in developing nations. As a passionate and strong advocate of Sustainable Development Goal #7 - access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all, Bayo’s research explores and develops frameworks for rural electrification development, deployment, management and affordability.

Bayo has over 10 years’ experience working in the power generation industry with General Electric (GE) in different countries across the world. He is presently a Technical Project Management staff of GE Power service group – Fieldcore Services Solutions Canada Inc. He is a certified Project Management Professional with track record of leading multiple and complex power generation equipment overhaul, upgrades and modification projects.

Bayo worked with N-ZAP from September 2020 to Spring 2023, when he completed his Master's degree.  His thesis can be found on the relevant publications page.  We thank him for his hard work and contributions to the N-ZAP project.
