Saveena Patara is a PhD candidate in the Sustainability Management program at the University of Waterloo. Saveena’s doctoral thesis explores Eurocentrism and business sustainability, as well as how climate change and sustainability are perceived by small and medium-sized business owners using a just sustainabilities lens (a discourse that promotes sustainability in a just and equitable manner through multiple and diverse voices).

Saveena earned an MBA in Sustainable Commerce where her research explored the merits of sustainability ranking lists and the impact that CSR practices have on an organization's credibility, reputation, and legitimacy, to help organizations develop or improve their sustainability strategies.

She also holds an MES in Geography and was part of a climate change adaptation project where her research examined vulnerabilities associated with water security for rural coastal communities in Nova Scotia to identify adaptation options and explore the role of governance in maintaining and enhancing water security.

Additionally, Saveena is an experienced business analyst and project manager with a demonstrated history of leading large and complex projects. She is skilled in stakeholder engagement and consultation, governance, problem-solving, change management, metrics, reporting, research, analysis, process improvement, as well as developing frameworks and best practices.
