IRTC 2023 – Raw Materials for a Sustainable Future

Four members of the Waterloo Industrial Ecology Group (WIEG) returned in good cheer from the International Roundtable on Raw Material Criticality (IRTC) Conference 2023, “Raw Materials for a Sustainable Future”, held 15-17 February 2023 in Lille, France. This was the first in-person scholarly conference for SUSM Masters student Jamie Faubert and for SUSM PhD student Ankesh Siddhantakar – and the first since the pandemic for Professors Komal Habib and Steven Young.

International Conference on EcoBalance

The International Conference on EcoBalance, organized by the Institute of Life Cycle Assessment, Japan (ILCAJ), has been held in Japan since 1994 as a biennial conference. Setting life cycle thinking as its core concept, EcoBalance is recognized as one of the world's premier conferences for academic, industry, and government professionals. EcoBalance serves as a forum for discussions on environmental performance evaluation, information disclosure regarding evaluation results, and for the development and implementation of discussed methods.

European Raw Materials Week

Professors Komal Habib and Steven B. Young are at the 2019 European Raw Materials Week. The event builds on a series of events organised by the European Commission addressing the latest news on raw materials in the EU, including discussions on relevant issues of policy, technology, international cooperation, and the like. Critical raw materials and circular economy discussions are central.
